With all the talk about love and all things sentimental this month, I thought this reminder was very sweet and appropriate! "The best things in life are kept in the heart, not in a box in the back of a closet." So often, we try to capture special memories and feelings in the form of something physical. We buy a souvenir on vacation or a trinket to commemorate a special occasion. We tell ourselves that we *need* that item so we'll always remember that special time. But the sad truth is, those physical possessions often only end up filling our homes, not our hearts. You see, the memories will live on in your heart. But the physical items (the "special things" you bring home) can end up piling up in your home, adding to the clutter and stress. I hope you'll think of this gentle reminder the next time you're tempted to bring home an item to remember a special time or event. You see, decluttering is as much about stopping the stuff from coming into your home as it is getting the stuff out. And it starts with little habits like this! PS: Isn't it wonderful that our most meaningful memories don't require maintenance, storage, or spring cleaning? The heart keeps them perfectly preserved. 💕 BONUS DECLUTTERING POSTS🌟 Clutter Crisis: How We Accumulate SO MUCH Stuff in a Year 🌟 The BEST Way to Start Decluttering When You're Overwhelmed 🌟 12 Serious Signs You Need to Declutter Your Home 🌟 The Slippery Slope of the "1 In, 1 Out" Rule of Decluttering |
